The character IP200.008.476 is actually my favorite, at least when it comes to lovable and sweet.
I have never met any girl exactly like her, but if I were to mix some of the students I have met, young and old, I would come out with someone similar. She represents the age just before sexual discovery. When love is not physical but magical. When kisses are tender and not French. She is however, a very clever child and so is probably well aware of the birds and bees’ factor in life, but not consumed by it. No one gets addicted by hearsay.
Also, all the names used, from the teacher Bloom to Mark are just random and have no real meaning at all. In my other books, especially the chronicles of TwyNiSaDel every name means something.
In this chapter IP200.008.476 has her birthday, or as her parents refer to it, her extraction day, as natural birth like human contact was looked down upon, for not only did it involve unnecessary risks, but was less predictable and hence less manageable. I also mention at this point that full DNA copying was internationally banned. I hope this will happen. It is important to keep the rotating circle of wealth, for it inspires and motivates creation, which generally, is good for humanity. It would be dreadful if destiny was sealed from the moment of birth.
After the extraction day party and gifts, Jessie (IP200.008.476) goes back to her room, to google Creation. I have deliberately said that she does not find Google to be the best, and I am not promoting it to be either, like Jessie, for me Google comes without any hidden agendas or fees. The idea of ‘on the net always on the net’, is an interesting thought, and perhaps in the beginning of the internet it probably was true, but I am no longer sure today, and certainly less so in the future. The quantity of data being uploaded each day surely must reach a point of saturation where old ‘private’ data is then systematically deleted.
I then go on to describe the structure of Creation. It is a mixture of my childhood music and sports systems. As a child I had ‘Top of the Pops’ a weekly show which we would watch as a family, all fascinated as to who would be number one. It created my first childhood idols and crushes. The biggest of these being Blondie. It wasn’t just her extreme blond hair or the way she pouted invitingly into the camera when she sung, but the way she dressed! (This comment actually needs two exclamation marks.) In her red and white striped outfit (the video from Denis) She showed more skin than a fourteen-year-old Irish descent (Catholic too) had ever seen. Even now, watching her old videos, I am pleased she was in my life. (LOL)
The other chart system was the British Football league. There were four groups. One naturally being the best. Divisions one and two having 22 teams, and three and four 24.
It is a combination of these that inspired the structure of Creation.
Jessie’s next step, after researching the game was to pick a name, although she knew this was not necessary, she still does it. I thought this was a nice touch, as although she is very clever and therefore well aware that the probability of her ever using the name might never happen, the youthful excitement that covers everything in life, makes her pick one. And this is where one of the many weird coincidences that have occurred in writing the book happened. Her name Jessie, at the time of writing had no real meaning to it, other than I used to sing the song Jessie a lot (it’s a good song for piano bars – not to slow, and not to bouncy. People somehow seem to connect to it, but that is probably because they don’t really listen to the words, and are selective to which ones they want to believe in. This happens a lot in songs – it’s probably their magic, but this blog is not about my own personal taste in music, but how my book came about) JC sounds very similar to Jessie and also is short for Jesus Christ, as referred to by Andrew Lloyd Weber. I then picked a number. Which has varied in copies. 30 or 34. I once looked into the actual date of Jesus’s death, but it seems to be a bit obscure. So, I have stuck with 30. If anyone wishes to correct me with verified data, I will gladly change Jessie’s gaming name accordingly, and thank you for it too.
I kind of like my futuristic idea of a unilateral IP banning. This would perhaps reduce the level of vulgarity and impoliteness which can often be found in chat rooms. It is personally one of the reasons why I don’t go to such places. I also feel, that although my comments are valid, they seem to attack a lot of what we have done and do. I don’t do this deliberately, but I do feel that we have glorified too much for too long.
The rest of the chapter is the story – and personally, I have enjoyed reading it again. Remembering what I have written. Re-seeing the scenes unfold before me as clear as when I first wrote them.
I honestly must admit I like this chapter. The blood, the violence, the innocence, and the love, all seem nicely balanced in my mind. LOL. If there not, then obviously my mind’s a bit off scale. (Smile) Fortunately I keep all these thoughts and ideas to myself and use them only for my characters.
